Oscar

The weekend was no good. On Saturday Oscar passed away.
He was funny, always brought a smile to our faces and warmth to our hearts. He made me laugh the first time I read his blog, he wrote that one of his favorite pass time was stealing socks. And he gave some advice that I think is quite useful for us: “Keeping an eye out for pesky squirrels”. He was a quite character, we will remember him.

El fin de semana fue triste. El sábado Oscar falleció.
El fue muy cómico, siempre nos traía una sonrisa a nuestro rostro y abrigaba nuestros corazones. El me hizo reír la primera vez que leí su blog: El escribió que uno de sus pasatiempos favoritos era robar medias. Y el nos dio algunos consejos que creo que son muy bueno para nosotros: “Vigilen a las fastidiosas ardillas”.
El fue muy particular y siempre lo recordaremos.

The pillow

Did you remember when I said: I have a bad habit of humping pillows? ? Anyway…
My master has two favorite pillows and one is blue. And guess what? I like the blue one.
I was determined to take possession of the pillow and I did! After an intense fight with my master for several months he gave up and I walked away victorious with my new friend/toy.
My strategy was to do whatever it takes to take control of any pillow. First I was messing around with the sofa pillows. Then I was playing with the bed pillows. My pillow barricade was the last thing, with that my master went nuts when he saw the sofa pillows on the bed; He shook his head in a negative way (I don’t know why) as he looked at my masterpiece.

Se acuerdan que dije que yo tenia la mala costumbre de montarme en los cojines o almohadas? Ok en fin…
Mi master tiene dos cojines favoritos y uno es de color azul. Y adivinen que? Me gusta el azul.
Me propuse de tomar posesión del cojín y lo logre. Después de una intensa pelea con mi master por muchos meses el decido tirar la toalla y yo camine victoriosa con mi nuevo amigo/juguete.
Mi estrategia fue hacer cualquier cosa para tomar control del cojín. Primero me puse a “jugar” con los cojines del sofá. Después me puse a jugar con los cojines de la cama.
Mi barricada de cojines fue lo último, con eso mi master se volvió loco cuando vio los cojines del sofá sobre la cama. Movió su cabeza en forma negativa( no se por que) cuando veía mi obra de arte.

Confusing

My cultural identity is a bit confusing. Am I American? I know that I was born in Peru and moved to the US after a year living in Peru. Now I am 9 years old, and I have lived in Arlington, VA for most of my life.
The 4th of July is coming up and now I'm wearing a red, white and blue bandana. Does someone know what this means? Am I American? Anyways, I like it!
To my friends in Peru: I don't think that I'm a sell-out so don't give a hard time about my bandana. I am proud to identify myself with both cultures. I promise that I will wear something Peruvian for the 28th of July.
I’m pretty sure that my master will place some delicious burgers on the grill and probably a steak too. My mouth is watering right now thinking about those juicy burgers ... medium well please!
Mom is still in Peru, but sometimes I forget and I wait for her in the living room.

Mi identidad cultural esta un poco confusa. Soy una estadounidense? Yo se que nací en Perú y que me mude a los Estados Unidos después de un ano de vivir en Perú. Ahora tengo 9 anos y he vivido la mayor parte de mi vida en Arlington, VA.
El 4 de julio se acerca y ahora estoy vistiendo una bandana roja, blanca y azul. Alguien sabe que significa? Soy una estadounidense? En fin, me gusta!!!
A mis amigos en Perú: por favor no piensen que soy una vendida, así que no me fastidien sobre mi bandana. Yo estoy orgullosa de mi identidad con ambas culturas. Les prometo que vestiré algo peruano para el 28 de julio.
Estoy muy segura que mi master pondrá algunas deliciosas hamburguesas en la parrilla y hasta probablemente un steak también. Se me hace agua la boca de solo pensar en esas jugosas hamburguesas…termino medio por favor!
Mama aun sigue en Perú, pero algunas veces me olvido y la espero en la sala.
